Victorian architecture refers collectively to several architectural styles employed predominantly during the middle and late 19th century. The period may slightly overlap the reign of Queen Victoria, 20 June 1837 – 22 January 1901. The styles often included interpretations and eclectic revivals of historic styles mixed with the introduction of middle east and Asian influences. The name represents the British and French custom of naming architectural styles for a reigning monarch. Within this naming and classification scheme, it follows Georgian architecture and later Regency architecture, and was succeeded by Edwardian architecture.

In many cases, due to the rapidly changing economic conditions during the traditional Victorian period, architects of the time were integrating the new architectural style and building materials with both Gothic and Baroque-period construction, as they updated existing cities and towns in Europe. Many of the architects who came to the United States in the 19th century brought those styles with them and heavily influenced the building of America.
