MEET THE THEATREWORLD TEAM
President and Co-Founder
Michele began her professional career in local government (Office of the Managing Director for the City of Philadelphia), followed by 10 years in Public Education (Hillsborough County, Florida), leading to 14 years as Vice President of Administration for a private services firm in Tampa. Michele remains active with client communications as she builds and leads the TheatreWorld team into the future.
Creative and General Manager
Tammy has been involved in theater since the 5th grade and has directed shows such as LITTLE WOMEN, MAN OF LA MANCHA, LEGALLY BLONDE, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, and BIG FISH to name a few. With a degree in Mechanical Engineering, experience working as a high school teacher, and fulfilling nearly every role both on stage and back stage, Tammy provides creative insights and designs that assist TheatreWorld’s production and overall operations.
Client Relations Team Lead
Rachael has a BA in English and comes, most recently, from the world of publishing. She has held administrative and customer service positions in several industries and has tutored students in reading, writing, and the SAT. Rachael has been involved with the theatre community for over a decade, mostly as a performer. Her role at TheatreWorld is to provide customer and administrative support and to serve as in-house writing/editing specialist.
Michele A. Mathews, PHR, SHRM-CP
Human Resources, Safety, and Risk Consultant
Michele came to us with over 18 years of progressive experience in all facets of Human Resources Management, Safety Program Development, and Workforce Risk Mitigation spanning multiple industries. She is TheatreWorld’s advisor in all human capital management, training, and safety/risk programs. In addition to the experience outlined above, Michele also has five+ years back of the house experience, where she was the resident sound engineer and assistant safety engineer for one of Tampa Bay’s semi-professional theatre companies. Michele is an OSHA General Industry Certified Trainer and both a Lay and BLS CPR/AED/First Aid Trainer.
James L. Swank
Director of Operations
Jim, or “The Colonel” as he is known around the office, joined TheatreWorld Backdrops from the communications and management fields. After serving our country for over 20 years in the US Army, Jim’s disciplined, dynamic, and professional style of hands-on management has allowed him to bring much success to various companies he has worked for. As TheatreWorld Backdrops’ Director of Operations, The Colonel was instrumental in building and overseeing the day-to-day logistics and maintaining the quality control standards of our rental inventory. Jim now focuses on strategic planning and new systems implementation to support TheatreWorld’s continued growth.
