Daddy issues are a common theme in many a dramatic tale, but no show tackles them quite like <\/span>Big Fish<\/span><\/i>. Based on the 2003 Tim Burton movie of the same name and the 1998 novel upon which the movie is based, <\/span>Big Fish<\/span><\/i> is the story of Edward Bloom and his estranged son, Will. Edward is nearing the end of his life, while Will is about to welcome his firstborn child into the world. Years of strain stand between them, as Will has always struggled to believe his father\u2019s tall tales. As Edward\u2019s story unfolds toward its inevitable conclusion, Will has to decide whether to believe his father\u2019s bigger-than-life stories and mend the rift while he has time, or lose this connection to his own childhood forever. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by John August, <\/span>Big Fish<\/span><\/i> enjoyed a run in Chicago before moving to New York in 2013. The show closed just a few months later. However, despite its short turn on Broadway, it received much critical praise and remains an impactful family-friendly journey suitable for any ambitious theatre group.
