In mid-May, TheatreWorld announced that, in collaboration with Stages Productions of Florida, that it was developing a new Signature Series of scenic backdrops to support the ever-popular SEUSSICAL: THE MUSICAL. The goal of the joint project was to create highly colorized, detailed, fun, high-quality backdrops to support this most popular musical offered by Music Theatre International.
We are very excited to report that the backdrops have just arrived from our painting team and they are simply stunning! The amount of hand painted detail that has gone into these backdrops is mesmerizing… to the point where photos, quite frankly, do not come close to doing them justice!
The initial three Signature Series scenic backdrops, available either individually or as part of a specially priced bundled package, are below.
The scenic backdrops will debut with Stages Productions at one of their three summer theatre camps. The new backdrops are evidently inspired by the Dr. Seuss series and provide an interesting bridge between books, film, and theatre.
Mike Mathews, TheatreWorld’s Creative Director, and Rick D’Onofrio, Artistic Director of Stages Productions said the young people’s performances will be enriched by the new Signature Series backdrops and their production should be one of the finest in the history of the annual summer camp series.
Stages will provide photos of the backdrops in action at the end of the camp. The images above are from TheatreWorld’s facility and the lighting is far from theatre quality.
A Christmas version of Whoville will be available this fall in limited quantity.
